WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE BLATED CORE AND PRO SERIES CAPSULE FILLING MACHINES?

We've been asked this same question so many times that we decided a full comparison article would help explain most clearly.
The Core and Pro Series both operate in a similar way, but the difference comes down to a few key points.
MAIN THINGS IN COMMON
-
Both machines require capsules to be pre-separated — either by hand or by purchasing them already separated
-
Both machines require a frame plate and shaking to be used to drop the capsule halves into the Body Plate and Capping Plates
-
The capsule-making process for each is nearly identical
CORE SERIES
-
Available capacities & capsule sizes
-
100 Holes: #000, #00, #0, #1, #2, #3 & #4
-
400 Holes: #00 & #0
-
KEY DIFFERENCES

-
Made from ABS plastic via injection molding from the same molds every time, ensuring each part is exactly the same as the original
-
Designed to never be taken apart
-
Powder guard is shorter but connects around the entire edge of the machine
-
Not heavy/airtight, so a small amount of powder can get caught under until the guard is removed
-
-
Tamper is not as heavy as the Pro Series model, so it doesn’t pack powder without applying some pressure
-
Small enough to be used without first removing the powder guard
-
-
Each plate is labeled with its capsule size and part identifier directly into the piece when it’s molded
-
Makes the Core Series more beginner friendly, especially for those with little to no experience making capsules
-
-
Overall, the machine is much lighter than the Pro Series models
-
Some people prefer a lighter machine versus a heavier one
-
-
Stacks more conveniently to be stored away when not in use
Who it’s made for: Best suited for home and occasional DIY users
PRO SERIES
-
Available capacities & capsule sizes
-
100 Holes: #000, #00, #0, #1, #2, #3, #4 & #5
-
400 Holes: #000, #00, #0, #1, #2, #3, #4 & #5
-
800 Holes: #00 & #0

KEY DIFFERENCES
- Crafted from strong, high-quality acrylic and stainless steel using CNC machinery. These are premium materials for enhanced durability and longevity
-
Hand-removable body plate screw bolts allow the user to take it apart in a few seconds without the need for tools
-
Makes cleaning, adjusting, and even replacing worn parts of the machine fast and straightforward
-
-
Being crystal-clear and smooth, the filling process itself is more intuitive
-
Powder Guard is taller and in a U shape, making it efficient for spreading powder
-
Unlike the Core Series, the Pro Series powder guard must be removed before tamping
-
Powder guard is optional, and some customers prefer to remove it completely
-
Note: We suggest using your Pro Series capsule filler on top of a clean tray to catch any fallen ingredients. This allows you to do many batches quickly, and on the last batch, you can take the tray from underneath and pour any fallen ingredient powder back on, limiting waste and potential mess.
-
Stainless steel and silicone feet attachments screw onto the bottom of each screw assembly
-
-
Tamper is very strong and made heavy using high-quality acrylic resin with stainless steel cylindrical pegs formed right into the surface
-
The heavy, balanced weight of the tamper compresses powder evenly across each capsule, as opposed to the need for applying force yourself, which could be uneven
-
Especially important for larger capacity models such as the 400 and 800-hole versions
-
-
Length and diameter of each stainless steel peg are specifically chosen for that capsule size to ensure the tamper compresses powder without pulling out filled capsule bodies.
- Unlike the Core Series tampers, which utilize the same size tamper between the ranges of #000-#0, #1-#3 and #4.
-
Each peg is chamfered for precise tamping, and the distance between each peg is much wider than the Core Series for full cleaning access
-
Unlike the Core Series tamper pegs, which are closer together, making cleaning more difficult
-
-
-
Powder spreader is hands down the smoothest you’ll find anywhere
-
Made from the perfect mix of rigid yet bendable food-safe materials to ensure no friction is felt when spreading powders
-
If friction is felt, capsules may be standing too high and scraping the spreader — adjust as the directions explain
-
Once adjusted, the machine will not need readjustment unless moved out of alignment
-
Note: All Pro Series machines come calibrated upon delivery
-
Parts don’t have part name labels etched into each plate
-
You’ll need to look at the diagram to match the parts to the actual pieces
-
Each part has identifying differences, but it’s not as straightforward as reading the part name like with the Core Series
-
-
Can be stacked onto itself but takes slightly more room than the Core Series versions
Who it’s made for: Designed for businesses, compounding pharmacies, research & development, or home users looking for a highly durable, long-term filler
QUICK REFERENCE TABLE OF KEY DIFFERENCES
Feature | Core Series | Pro Series |
---|---|---|
Material | ABS plastic (injection molded) | High-quality acrylic + stainless steel (CNC machined) |
Capsule Sizes Available | #000–#4 (100-hole) #00& #0 (400-hole) |
#000–#5 (100-hole) |
Disassembly | Not designed to be taken apart | Hand-removable bolts for tool-free disassembly in seconds |

Tamper | Lightweight, requires manual pressure | Heavy acrylic + stainless steel pegs for even compression |
Tamper Pegs | Closer together, harder to clean | Wider spaced, chamfered pegs for easy cleaning |
Powder Spreader | Functional | Premium, friction-free, food-safe design |
Labels on Parts | Molded-in size and part name | No etched labels; must reference diagram |
Stability | May slide on table | Stainless steel + silicone feet for grip |
Weight | Light and portable | Heavier, more stable |
Storage | Stacks compactly | Stacks but takes slightly more room |
Best For | Home and occasional DIY use | Businesses, pharmacies, R&D, heavy-duty or frequent use |
TLDR:
If you’re using it occasionally for personal projects, the Core will serve you well. If you plan on frequent, heavy use, or you have specialty size and quantity needs that aren’t available with the Core, the Pro is well worth the upgrade.
